2022-23 Season

After a successful 2021-22 season which saw the team finish runners up in both the league and the cup, we were delighted that we now have two teams playing under the name of Yetminster United; the first team playing in division 2 of the Perry Street League and the reserves in division 3.

What a season the club enjoyed! The first team remained unbeaten after 26 games, winning the pre-season Ron Eglon Cup, the Jack Venn Cup and the Tommy Taberer Cup. Division two of the Perry Street League was won with three games to spare and a goal difference of 77 goals. Then on Tuesday 9 May, the icing on the cake came with victory in the Dorset Junior Cup final. Things did not look good when Westover scored in the second minute of the match and then dominated play for much of the fist half. However, the Yetties clawed their way back into the match when Carl Hall headed the equaliser in the 60th minute. Both teams had chances before Bayley Pitman was put through on goal, only to be taken out by the goalkeeper, who received an immediate red card. Playing against 10 men, Yetminster dominated the start of extra time and it was no surprise when Mitch Harkin grabbed what proved to be the winner in the 94th minute. After weathering a final onslaught from Westover, the final whistle was greeted with a huge roar by the large contingent of family and friends.

After a nervous wait, the Reserve Team became Champions of Division 3 when Uplyme were beaten by Chard United in their last match but put in a disappointing performance in losing to Chard in the final of the Kenny Hodges Cup.
